하얀장미 꽃  백장미

 

독일 나치 저항운동의 상징 ‘백장미’ “자유여, 영원하라!”, “태양은 아직도 빛난다.”  1970년대 말부터 80년대 한국 ‘운동권’ 대학생들 사이에 필독서로 꼽혔던 <아무도 미워하지 않는 자의 죽음>(원제 백장미)의 실존 인물 ‘한스 숄, 소피 숄’ 남매가 사형 직전 남긴 말이다. ‘White rose’, symbol of Germany’s Nazi resistance movement “Long live freedom!”, “The sun still shines.”  These are the words spoken by the siblings ‘Hans and Sophie Scholl’, the real-life characters of ‘The Death of Someone Who Hates No One’ (original title Baek Jang-mi), which was considered a must-read among Korean ‘activist’ college students in the late 1970s and 1980s, just before their execution.
