산딸나무 Korean dogwood

층층나무처럼 층을 이루어 넓게 가지를 퍼며 자라고  하얀색 꽃은 위로 향하며 핀다.
꽃의 모양은 꽃잎 4개가 +(십자)로 붙어져 있는 형태이다.
그러나 +(십자) 모양은 하얀색은 꽃이 아니고 꽃받침이며, 가운데의 산딸기 모양의 녹색(익으면 빨간색)이 꽃이다.

산딸나무의 열매가 산딸기 또는 뱀딸기와 비슷하게 생겨서 '산딸나무'라고 부른다. 
맛은 달아서 사람이 먹을 수 있지만 뱀 딸기를 닮아 사람들은 잘 먹지 않으며  새들이 주로 먹는다.

The shape of the flower is four petals joined together in a + (cross) shape.
However, the white color in the + (cross) shape is not a flower but a calyx, and the raspberry-shaped green color in the center (red when ripe) is a flower.

The fruit of the dogwood tree looks similar to raspberries or snake strawberries, so it is called 'dogelberry'.
It tastes sweet so people can eat it, but because it resembles a snake strawberry, people don't eat it, and birds mainly eat it.
